Complete Victory In Jesus

5/7/2021

When the soul surrenders itself to Christ, a new power takes possession of the new heart.  A change is wrought which man can never accomplish for himself.  It is a supernatural work, bringing a supernatural element into the human heart.  The soul is yielded to Christ and become His own fortress, which he holds in a revolted world, and He intends that no authority shall be known in it but His own.  DA 324.

Our heavenly Father measures and weighs every trial before He permits it to come upon the believer.  He considers the circumstances and the strength of the one who is to stand under the proving and test of God, and He never permits the temptation to be greater than the capacity of resistance.  If the soul is overborne, the person overpowered, this can never be charged to God, but the one tempted was not vigilant and prayerful and did not appropriate by faith the provisions God had abundantly in store for him.  Christ never failed a believer in his hour of combat.  The believer must claim the promise and meet the foe in the name of Lord. OHC 323.

Path Of The Just

4/6/2021

Proverbs 4:18 “The path of the just is as a shining light, that shines more and more even unto a perfect day.”

Solomon admonishes that we should walk in the way of the godly and not the ungodly.  The “Path” is a trail, route, course, lane.  The righteous are called to walk a specific path that leads to the Son, Jesus.  It is the kind of path that one walks throughout their life.  It is called the “path of righteousness.”  Solomon draws the analogy of the progression of the sun in the day.  The sun rises with its initial rays of light at dawn.  As the sun rises in the sky, the light gives us increases of brightness, illuminating everything in the world until it reaches its pinnacle at the peak of the day.  It is complete at each stage of rising until it comes to completion between 2-3 PM.

This analogy is given to us as the path and way of those who walk in the ways of God.  The light represents God’s Word, Jesus Christ.  The light is the truth.  The light is a lamp.  Jesus declared in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  The brightness of the Father’s light can only be experienced through the Son Jesus.  As the believer embraces every ray of light that is understood, the light becomes brighter as the Father gives more.  The Father will not increase the light and understanding until the light provided is understood and received.  The believer who draws near to God is at times in opposition from the world and indwelling of sin.  There is a battle with the forces of darkness.

The scripture teaches us how to walk this path.  The one who seeks God will know Him better and better; they will desire God’s wisdom and walk in it.  There will be things the believer will not understand at first but which God will illuminate. There will be facets of the character revealed and admonished to overcome.  There will be areas of darkness and murkiness – areas unrealized that were sinful.  The light of God’s Word and wisdom will radiate the darkness as He convicts and delivers.  Let us walk this peculiar path.

Let us embrace this shining light.  Let grow in grace, love, and peace with God on this path.  Let us allow Christ to mature us, perfect us, and hold us up in the immortal brightness of the Father.

YOUR BEST LIFE NOW

3/30/2021

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life. John 3:36.

Those who are truly children of God are believers, not doubters and chronic grumblers.... Through all ages and in every nation those that believe that Jesus can and will save them personally from sin, are the elect and chosen of God; they are His peculiar treasure....

The Lord has graciously opened out to our understanding by the Holy Spirit rich truth, and we should respond to this by corresponding works of piety and devotion, in harmony with the superior privileges and advantages that have been bestowed upon us. The Lord is waiting to be gracious to His people, to give them an increased knowledge of His paternal character, of His goodness, mercy, and love. He waits to show them His glory; and if they follow on to know the Lord, they shall know that His goings forth are prepared as the morning.

The people of God are not to stand upon common ground, but upon the holy ground of gospel truth. They are to keep step with their Leader, looking continually to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of their faith, marching onward and upward, and having no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness....

It is the privilege of the children of God to be delivered from the control of the lusts of the flesh, and to preserve their peculiar, heavenly character, which distinguishes them from the lovers of the world. In their moral taste, in their habits and customs, they are separate from the world. Who are the children of God? They are members of the royal family, and a royal nation, a peculiar people, showing forth the praises of Him who hath called them out of darkness into His marvelous light....
